A night of timeless tunes and spoken word will take place in the Drake Hotel's "Undergournd" featuring poetry by: Lynn Crosbie (with Benjamin Boles), Tony Burgess, Alexandra Leggat and music from William New, Kurt Swinghammer, Bonzai Suzuki and a reunion of The Bee People, the eighties punk band that screams songs about the life and career of actor Al Waxman. This will be their first set featuring all four original members in almost thirty years! There is no cover but everyone is asked to donate what they can to help out a friend in need.
Meryn Cadell is a friend of William New, Jaymz Bee and countless artists in Toronto. When it was reported Meryn was ill, which spiraled into a financial setback including eviction; New, Bee and their friends wanted to do something to help. They decided to produce an evening of pop, rock, punk and poetry and pass the hat to raise money for their dear friend who performed regularly in Toronto at The Beverly Tavern in the 80's and currently lives in British Columbia.

To pay tribute to this prolific composer, Alex Samaras and saxophonist/music historian Bobby Hsu will come together to perform "The Songs of Sondheim".
Joining this talented young band is singer Sophia Perlman – this will sell out – get your tickets now by going on line to jazz.fm and clicking on 2014 Cabaret Series. (You can also pick up tickets to Cadence at Hugh's Room in April at the same time!)
