This concert marks the first anniversary of Alex Pangman’s double lung transplant and the release of the CD "Say Uncle!" by her new band, Lickin’ Good Fried. The band also features her husband, Tom Parker, and is a group that recreates the classic old-time country and folk sounds of the 1930’s.
Her traditional swing band, Alex Pangman and her Alleycats, will also appear as the openers. They will perform songs from her various albums including the best seller, "Live In Montreal". You can hear Alex on http://www.jazz.fm (91.1 FM) on Benmergui In The Morning at 9:15am on November 3, talking about her life, her music and her new lungs!

Internationally acclaimed Rossano Sportiello's "touch, sensitivity, and eloquence are beyond category" and he will be joined by stellar musicians; Jim Galloway, Don Thompson (bass) and Don Vickery (drums). The event benefits The Philip Aziz Centre, which is a home hospice serving the needs of individuals and families living with a life-threatening illness. In 2010 they hope to open a new Children's home in Toronto, so come and join them in support of this great cause and hear the music of Rossano!

It’s time for Canada to celebrate the legends of Blues! And when one thinks of blues music in Canada, the first name that springs to mind is Downchild. It’s been 40 years since Donnie "Mr. Downchild" Walsh and his late brother, Hock formed the renowned group that would be the inspiration behind the world famous Blues Brothers and Downchild plans to celebrate their anniversary in style, with some very special friends including blues brother and movie icon Dan Aykroyd, Colin Linden, James Cotton and Wayne Jackson of The Memphis Horns. They also have a new album "I Need A Hat" which was released this fall! Don't miss the chance to catch them live in Toronto or on the rest of the tour which goes until December.

Hendrik Meurkens was born in Germany, studied in Rio and is currently based in New York. Meurkens is one of the world’s greatest living harmonica and vibraphone players; specializing in Latin jazz but also fully versed in jazz standards and is an extraordinary composer. Enjoy the coziness of The Old Mill Inn and check out one of the most accomplished chromatic harp players on the planet.

Scott Kemp is a Toronto bassist who has played and recorded three albums with The Elizabeth Shepherd Trio and toured throughout Canada and the US, Europe, and Japan. He can also be seen performing with Elvis Bossa Nova, NOJO, The Maisies, Shannon Butcher, Dylan Murray, as well as other Toronto artists. He is releasing his debut album entitled "Introductions" which includes; Scott Metcalfe (Nord Organ), Michael Occhipinti (guitar), Bobby Hsu (Alto Sax), and Colin Kingsmore (Drums) during a month-long weekly series at The Rex in November 2009.
